Savage Soaking - ShadowStrike Prime So, it's a hot summer afernoon, and everybody's outside fighting. CPS's, XP's, Monsters, SC's, they're all seeing action. There's no tactical command, and it's every man for himself. "Your primal instincts rage within you, Your blood cries out for the soak!" But you must think carefully before you go into a blind rage and begin obliterating everyone in your path. You must decide between two courses of action: Go on the offensive, or stay on the defensive. Both have their good points, and both have their bad points... In conflicts like this, there is usually an opening battle during which most people use much of their water. By staying on the defensive, you can wait until everyone is at their weakest point, and strike. The problem with this is that if somebody finds you it could all be over, and that waiting can generally be very boring. By going on the offensive you can take many enemies by surprise by simply screaming your head off and blasting away. The problems with this are that after your inital strike, the enemy will realize what's going on and retaliate. not to mention you might be low on water (that depends on the ferocity of your attack). As the name of chapter suggests, this type of water warfare is very savage. however if one does not take the time to come up with some kind of plan, one may find oneself at an extreme tactical disadvantage... "I Must Not Fear, Fear Is The Mind Killer, Fear Is The Little Death That Brings Total Obliteration" Above all, maintaning the proper state of mind is the most important. Fear is a major factor in any water fight. Although we think we have conquered fear, it is always there. If One does not control his or her fear, it will soon destroy him or her. By conquering fear, one can excel in his/her water fighting skills, and arise victorius. "Savage Soaking", As the name of chapter suggests, this type of water warfare is very savage. however if one does not take the time to come up with some kind of plan, one may find oneself at an extreme tactical disadvantage... == "I prefer to beat my enemies the old fashioned way, BRUTALLY!" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Defending a Base In A Hopless Situation - ShadowStrike Prime Your team is trapped in what's left of your base, and all your primary weapons are nearly depleted. To add to this amazingly wonderful situation, the enemy force has vastly supierior weaponry and numbers of troops. So, you're probably wondering, "what the heck do I do now?!" Well, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Your job is to make sure the reaction to the enemy's attack doesn't involve your team getting the snot blown out of them. Ok, for this plan to work you are going to have to make a very difficult decision. Yes, you will have to sacrifice one member of your team. First, ask for volenteers, if you don't get any, use the tried and true method of making command decisions: Rock Paper Scissors. Now that you've choosen your victim-er...soldier, you've got to give him a weapon. That doesn't mean load him with an MXL and two Power Packs. Give this guy a CPS-1200 (it doesn't matter if it's loaded) and an XP-310(at least have this one filled up halfway). Send him out to attack the enemy. Tell him to be sneaky, the last thing you want is to have the enemy get suspicious. Have your team yell and scream, as if they were attacking. Because the enemy can see one guy coming around a corner or something, and hear you and your team screaming, they'll think you're attacking. The second they start firing at the guy you sent out, yell "retreat!" So now the enemy thinks you've made your move...when in reality, you've wasted practicly none of your resources. Divide up what little water you have amongst your troops. Make sure you fill up the guns that soak the most area. (a CPS-1-3-5 or a gun with a fan blast would be preferable). Again, you've fooled your enemy into thinking they'll be fighting sidearms, when you're actually going to pummel them with big weapons! Before the enemy attacks, give one of your guys a light sidearm and a backpack full of empty 2 litre pop bottles. When the enemy attacks your base, send this guy out to find a water source, fill up the bottles andget back as quickly as possible. Give him LOTS of cover fire, he's your only hope. (don't worry, this guy isn't going on a kamakaze suicide mission like the other soldier). Hopefully, you'll be able to hold the base long enough for the refill guy you sent out to get back. If not, then he's gonna have some difficulties of his own... --------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Whats Bland? I don't see anything bland? - Budgie Note: This editorial is linked to the last issue of the Newsletter refer to that to see what im talking about. After Tacticians article I thought I'd show the other end of the spectrum, on what the things he mentioned are for. 1) Super Soaker Reviews are for people who are interested in buying new soaker so they want some information thats not from the company before they put there hard earned money down. Sites like iSoaker, Nexus and AquaZone don't have 85 reviews, we just list them all so people know they exist. SuperSoaker.com and Larami doesn't so somebodies gotta do it. 2)Links: I have my links section to refer people to other sites some people get to my site not from the web ring but from Lycos, so they have no clue about the web ring the links section helps refer people, and isn't it just nice to see a link to your site, knowing your hard work is appreciated and recognized. 3) Uniqueness: I've got my Technology section, and soon evolutions section, Aqua-Nexus has the Newswire, iSoaker has the Rogues and iSoaker Elite, AquaFire covers events, Guts N Glory has a military attitude, HydroWar has its broken links :P, and Hydrolosyis has its interactive approach. If you ask me every site is unique in a way. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. STEVE'S HOUSE, part XIII of the DOMINATOR WAR - Cmdr. Dave Next morning, we woke up at about 8:30 a.m.. My parents made us breakfast and we ate in shifts. After breakfast, we put on new or dry clothes and took a look at our base. Everything was still intact. We thought about what we were going to do today. Maybe go on more recons? Maybe split our team? Well, before any of that, we had a little something to take care of. We had a first priority mission: Get Steve! His team never showed, even though he said he had them all waiting back at his house the day before, and now it was time to pay him a little visit. This was how it was going to work: Kevin was to be the bait. He was going to knock on Steve's door and see if Steve wanted to come out and play basketball. Everybody else would be hiding at different points around Steve's house. Once he got Steve out in the open, he would give a signal for us, the rest of the guys in hiding, to converge on him and soak him, then run back to base. Kevin drew a map and everyone was assigned a location to hide at. Steve's house is located on the next street over from our base, and is totally surrounded by forest. You have to think big here. In Virginia, the streets are easily a quarter mile away from the next one. We had quite a ways to go. Everybody started dressing up in camo. This was going to be a stealth mission. We loaded up our weapons and as soon as everyone was ready to go, we headed out. We had with us about 7-9 guys, well armed, with 3 back on base. We walked through the field coming up to the forest, then entered the forest and took the left trail towards the next road over. Once we were almost at the next road, we stopped, and finalized the details. We would have one group circle around to come up on Steve's house to the right, and the group I was in was to take the forested area to the left. We gave the first group about ten minutes, then our group headed out. It consisted of four guys, Greg, Jeremy, one other soldier, and me. We made our way through the forest. This time there was no trail, but we were about 20 ft in the forest, going along a road. When there was a clearing, we crossed the road into another part of the forest on the other side. Now we were getting close. Jeremy and the soldier stayed near a wood pile, and Greg and I kept moving slowly through the forest, around his house. We both had our Monster Xs. As we were sneaking through, I caught a glimpse of two people standing near his garage. One was looking right at me!!!! "Hold it!" I said, and we both froze. It must have been his mom. She looked right at me for at least a solid minute, and then went on around the house. Whew! We were partially camouflaged by the forest, since we were about 30 ft. inside the woods. There was a small clearing before his house, which was his yard. It was about 30 ft. deep. Then we heard people talking. It was Kevin talking to Steve! We both spotted them and we moved ever so cautiously through the forest. All of the sudden, we caught glimpses of fast moving people in the clearing. The attack!!! We made our way straight to the clearing, battling our way through the brush, and when we got to the clearing, we froze. Everyone was just standing there talking!!! There was a row of bushes about 2 ft. high separating us from the clearing. Greg and I thought, "What's going on??? Why didn't they attack?" Soon there were about 5 or 6 of our guys just standing around talking to Steve. I could tell Greg was anxious to charge him, but I told him to wait. We were not hidden, and people could see us. My second in command, who was standing with the others said, "What are you guys doing?" We didn't answer. We just crouched down there in silence. He then called another one of our soldiers to come out. This was not how it was supposed to go. This went on for about 2 min. We heard some of our guys arguing, then shots were fired, and they were busy shooting each other. Now was the perfect time to attack, with a distraction. I said to Greg, "LET'S GO!!!!!!" and we lept to our feet and charged right at Steve. Greg was the first to hit him, then I hit him with my Monster X modified with a 40+ oz. Chamber and a riotblast nozzle. Steve was, from what I know, totally drenched, but we didn't stay long enough to find out. Greg and I were high-tailing it outta there. We ran back into the forest, on the trail, and found our way back to base. I was somewhat disappointed that the rest of the team didn't follow through, but I had the satisfaction of knowing that Greg and I got the job done. Soaker Poetry - Paul Quinnell Can you guess which Soakers these Odes are refering to? (Answers in next Newsletter) ---------------1---------------- Thou double headed creature of day and night, Who's will it is to explode to heaven and drill to hell. CPS 3200 Review - Blackwolf The CPS 3200 is what you would call a tank. This gun can pack a big punch. This gun is a large cannon and holds a very good amount of water. This is a good thing cause you will not be going back to fill up as much. Since this is a large gun means it has a large pressure tank which is not always a good thing. Suprising for the size of this gun it is easy to run with. Since you have all the water in the backpack the gun is light and easy to move around. The largest nozzle on the gun is useless. The water leaves the gun too quick. If you do succeed in hitting your target you will definitely soak them bad. On the other hand if you miss them you are sitting with an empty pressure tank. You will be a little while bringing back to pressure again and bye the time that happens you will soaked. The look of this gun could scare you. The whole thing is that the bark is bigger then the bite. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Vermin War III - Marauder Date: Thursday, June 7th, 2001 Time: 10:45 AM-4:40 PM Attendance: 20 people The War consisted of three individual battles Super Soaker Battle of the Bulge By 10:45 most of the army had assembled. After teams were picked it was desided that I leading one team had people with (in order of main weapons) CPS 3200 (1), CPS 1200 (3), SS 100 M4 (2), XP 85 (1) versus a team with CPS 2700 (1), CPS 2500 (1), CPS 1500 (1), CPS 1200 (1), CPS 1000 (1), SC 600 (1), XP 270 (2). We had a base set down near the creek located off a path away from a faucet; they had the tree fort. In the first action Water Rat with a CPS 1200 and Black Hawk with a XP 270 came down to raid our fort. We had hidden ourselves along the path in nearby undergrowth and brush. As they came down the hill we set up a mouse trap trick. Psycho with his 1200 and 100, and Hellbringer with his 100, 175, and 400 were the bait. They came charging downhill after them. We ambushed them from the bushes and surrounded them. I had my painted CPS 3200 and blasted them from about 18 feet away, then I charged in with my NI SS 40 for close up warfare. We slowly pushed them back, and sent them back to their base. As we did they regrouped, and brought down the team leader with his CPS 2500. Hellbringer with switched to his XXP 175 for close quarters and took on Water Rat; Psycho sniped Blackhawk with his NI SS 100, and then blasted him with his CPS 1200. I had a personal dual with Patriot, their team leader. We hada few words earlier on which was better, my 3200 or his 2500. I dodged his 5x blast and sent a 5x beam back at him slashing him as he tried to dodge. They retreated up the hill, and we persued to the top of it, not wanting to get entangled with their whole army. We went back to our base and regrouped. I had switched to my NI SS 25 in the proccess, seing that the other weapons were in need of pumping, and I didn't have enough time. During that episode I captured an XP 220 from Blackhawk. Hellbringer and Timberwolf went out on scouting trips to locate the bulk of the enemy army, Hellbringer used his SC 400 for scouting, and Timberwolf a Storm 750. As they did so Water Rat unleashed many attacks on our base alone, Psycho's sister had sniped him with a her brother's NI SS 100, and changed to a CPS 1200 when Water Rat got closer. She jumped off the high tree and Psycho unleashed a powerfull CPS 1200 5x beam on Water Rat. He responded with pulsating blasts from his CPS 1200. I saurated him with a 20x blast. Then he charged in trying to get to our water supply. We repulsed him, and he ran out of water, and had to refil. Now we decided an offensive strategy. We had to take the fort. I organized our team together while half of their force was refilling. On the given command we charged up the three different paths that led to the fort and took it by storm. I climbed up the ladder and got in. Stupid enough they had not posted the door up. We took the liberty of this and got in, then we put it up vowing not to suffer the same mistake. At this time Psycho's girlfriend Emily had arrived, and so had Backguy. She was a veteran of all previous Vermin Wars. Backguy took position in the Palisaide with his XP Backfire and SS 30. Emily was allowed in the tree fort to get away from the enemy and give us more soldiers in the fort itself. We heald out 'till lunch when we feasted on hotdogs, chips, etc. Afterwards we got back in, while I got food coloring to shoot at the enemy team. The enemy had reformed with some reinforcements. When they attacked the tree fort they literally surounded us. We were under a hail of water from all sides. Bushwacker charged the palisaide but couldn't get over. He blasted Backguy with a 10x shot from his CPS 2700. Backguy shot back with his XP Backfire, but caused minimal dampness. During this time Water Rat scaled the fort ladder. We had filled our guns with green or red food coloring. Emily blasted him with green food coloring in a XP 270 while Pshycho's sister shot him with red from a CPS 1200. I was more concerned with a force attacking the front of the fort. We repulsed many more attacks, but drew empty on water. I decided one last shot to end on a high note before I went to refil most of our guns. I took out Tribulation my moddified CPS 1700 and primed it. The kids in the fort began chanting "tribulation! Tribulation!" Water Rat poked his head over the wall and I fired... Instant drenched. He lowered down the ladder, I had it pumped up again. The Tribulation sent down a huge beam with a diameter the size of a baseball. He let go and ran for his dry life. I jumped over the wall with a XP 110, CPS 1500, CPS 1000, and Storm 2500 to refil. On the way back I attacked Water Rat with the XP 110, regarding its remarkable power at medium range. I then handed the guns back up and we proseeded to fight. I had to get down to refil alot. At the end of the battle Water Rat and Black Hawk had broken thru while I was away, though my team was pushing them back. We had captured and held the fort. Battle For Malvern Hill A little later a few of us got tired of sitting around. Patriot and I rounded up the people still interested in fighting. The teams were Water Rat, Patriot, and I versus Hellbringer, Bushwacker, Gordon, and Backguy. We took position of the heights. We decided that an en Masse defensive formation would work best, because we could mass our shots, while firing down hill; though we made a big target. Helbringer led the way with his SS 100M4. We opened fire downhill, and pushed him back. They regrouped and all tried. Bushwacker attacked the right flank, but was pushed back. He couldn't get up the hill fast enough with his CPS 2700, and was being pinned down by Patriot's CPS 2500 all the while. Hellbringer attacked the right, while the rest tried our center. I soaked Hellbringer, however he was able to get up the hill and snipe our rear with his 100. Water Rat charged him while I destroyed Backguy and Gordon who were using a XP 110 and XP 85 versus my CPS 3200. Hellbringer fell back, but had gotten a few acurate shots off at Patriot who was trading fire with Bushwacker. By this time Bushwacker had dropped back and set his CPS 2700 to 2x for longer more acurate shots, and was harrasing Patriot from long range, though he was able to thurouglhly drench Bushwacker who couldn't dodge fast enough. The enemy reformed at the base of the hill. We charged downhill all firing on 5x. Backguy and Gordon ran, and Bushwacker couldn't run fast enough. Hellbringer was stuck fighting off 3 CPSs with a SS 100M4. They all ran towards the road where we followed. We pushed them to the edge of a ditch, and saturated them. They regrouped and used the ditch as a trench, we traded fire back and forth, each team not wanting to attack te other. Suddenly they crept out and had surrounded us. Gordon took our rear with a XP 110 while the rest marauded our flanks. We were pushed back to the top of the hill, where we stayed and formed a three man wall. The enemy was at out front, all except Backguy who was really a pesk, and caused little damage. We fended them off, and then got a rest where we pumped to the max. The enemy had a ditch to their back, and a steep hill to descend from. We took advantage and charged down Malvern Hill blasting away. They panicked and couldn't get down fast enough. I chased Bushwacker with my 3200. He couldn't run under the weight of the CPS 2700. We screamed out the Nexan Warcry "TAKE NO PRISONERS!" and continued in persuit of them. I ran down a few of the enemy and drenched them. The result was a rout in our favour. The Mud War After the battle for Malvern Hill many of the troops headed down to the creek behind our house. They built mud bombs for no preticuler reason, and were putting mud in the chinks on the small bridge. A couple of us decided to perform a raid on these "mud brothers". It was Patriot, Water Rat, and me. We at first had CPS 2500, CPS 1200, and CPS 3200 in order of people. We split up and took three different paths down to the creek. I got within range and waited for my teamates to come down. Patriot got in ot position on the opposite side. Just then Bushwacker who was making mud bombs spotted Water Rat's bright yellow CPS 1200. "Their coming, get some mud!" he shouted. I engaged their left flank and poured water in bursts on them with 5x streams. They responded with mud and sand bombs which most flew harmlessly by, but some more deadly caused great damage. Patriot opened fire on them from long range with his CPS 2500 and Water Rat rushed in with his 1200 and stomped on a couple of mud bombs laying on the bridge. The other team responded by coating him with mud and sand. I fended most of them off until we had to refil. On the second outing we walked down the road that corssed the creek further down. Then we embarked down a trail and into the creek bed. We waded thru the water and crossed over large granite boulders in the stream. The trees and thick folaige hid us from being seen. Once again however, they spotted Water Rat's CPS 1200. We quickly decided that he and Patriot would go back to the road and attack back down by the path while I snuck around their back undetected. After 10 minutes of wading, running, and hiding I arived at my destination. By this time Patriot and Water Rat were already engaged. I came up behind Hellbringer and the 4 other "mud brothers" and blasted away at him on 10x. I saturated them, then charged on 5x. I was pelted with sand and mud, but proseeded in making mud puddles out of them. After 4 more engagements we stopped, our guns were getting mud in them, and it was getting old. --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -=C=- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 1.
